Massage

Intuitive Massage is an experience tailor-made for each client.  The therapist “listens” to the person’s body-mind story and adapts the techniques accordingly.  The rhythm and tempo of the massage is designed to complement the client’s needs.  Many supporting modalities may be incorporated throughout the session.    The end result of the intuitive bodywork is a deeply felt Oneness with the self and the universe.

Neuromuscular Massage/Trigger Point Myotherapy is detailed body work involving muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue.  Thumbs, fingertips, knuckles, elbows and forearms are used to explore an area of the body intensely and precisely.  Pressure is applied to a certain area for several seconds.  Trigger Points are created by injuries, muscle strain and high emotional stress.  The points are not always in a client’s present awareness.  They can often lie quiescent until an acute form of physical or emotional stress occurs which causes them to flare.  Blood flow increases, pain is reduced, and pressure on the nerves is released through the massage process.
Trigger Points can be totally eliminated with multiple sessions of therapy.  It is important to take preventative care to ensure that Trigger Points do not return.  Muscle stretching and stress reduction techniques will minimize issues involving Trigger Points.

Myofascial Release  is a type of therapeutic technique that enables the body to release pain and restore motion.  The therapist uses a gentle pressure that is maintained for several seconds.  The Myofascial connective tissue often restricts due to trauma, inflammatory issues, and/or surgical procedures.  Myofascial release frequently aids clients because unlike standard medical tests such as x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans and electromyography which often cannot detect pain sensitive structures due to restrictions, myofascial release can.  A multitude of hands on techniques are used during the individualized treatment process.   Ususally, no oils, creams or machinery are used.  The therapist applies his hands directly on the skin so he can detect the fascial restrictions and determine the appropriate amount of pressure to apply.

Deep Tissue Massage releases chronic patterns of tension.  The therapist creates slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the affected areas.  This work may follow the fiber’s of the muscles, tendons or fascia or it may go across. Because of the depth of the Deep Tissue Massage, soreness may occur during or after the massage.  Within two days the client should feel better than usual.  The massage releases old patterns of tension and reduces toxins in the body.

Prenatal and Postpartum Massage is beneficial for most pregnant women.  A doctor’s release is necessary before the work commences.  The massage helps a pregnant woman to relax, improve her wellness and decrease her back pain.  Both the physiological and emotional well-being of the client is enhanced with this massage.
